Did someone say Farmer’s Markets?

May 28, 2010

I’m sitting at my desk working away (honestly I am) but got distracted by the Toronto Life newsletter that just popped in my inbox.

The subject line made me smile – Toronto’s Best Farmer’s Markets.   THIS was my sign that summer is quickly approaching!   The thirty degree weather was my first clue.

There’s nothing better than strolling through one of Toronto’s parks or abandoned buildings and being amongst my fellow foodies.  We are in our element and resemble nothing short of kids in a candy store – minus the candy.  I can easily spend a few hours huddling among fruit and veggie stands, tasting locally sourced foods and chatting up a storm with the vendors.  I just love the sense of community that these markets bring…in addition to the abundance of fresh food.

Toronto Life just published the top 4 markets in the GTA, but you can find the extended list here for all of Ontario.

Who’s meeting me at the Brickworks this weekend??
